In February 2010, DJ Rap released SYNTHESIS (Ministry of Sound), a brand new studio album that weaves together a full compliment of synthetic textures and organic moods, and paints a lucid picture of her journey as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Powerful, melodic and immaculately produced, SYNTHESIS is a return to the hybridization of styles she brought forward on LEARNING CURVE (Sony), her 1999 debut that had magazines like Rolling Stone and Ray Gun heralding her arrival into the mainstream. The album's first single, "Give It All Away," was released December 2009.
"This goes deeper than just a dance record," says Rap, inspired by a wide range of artists, from Pink Floyd to Mutemath. "This album is a soundtrack to my life and what I've been going through."
UP ALL NIGHT saw the producer taking a softer approach to drum & bass, which was recorded with her live band in 2006. Self-released on PROPA TALENT through a simple MySpace campaign, UP ALL NIGHT sold over 30,000 copies.
After enjoying the mainstream spotlight DJ Rap returned to her grassroots and in May 2005 released the eagerly anticipated drum & bass album BULLETPROOF. Always an innovator, DJ RAP dares to break down barriers by pulling elements of rock, trance, and house into the drum & bass format. On BULLETRPROOF, DJ RAP delivers a blistering mix of 10 hard hitting tracks in a hybrid artist album/compilation format that features 6 brand new original DJ RAP productions and 2 new DJ RAP remixes of tracks by Ferry Corsten and Erick Morillo, alongside drum & bass favorites from Konflict and Concord Dawn.
Armani Exchange prides itself on being the voice of urban youth while trying to maintain a position at the intersection of high fashion and street culture. With the introduction of the Armani Exchange Music Series, the clothing label is now in a position to incorporate the world of club culture into the mix. The fourth volume in the series once again brings together two turntable heavyweights, this time around it's the sexy DJ Rap, known for her hard-hitting house and drum-n-bass sets, and Palash, half of the breakout duo Saeed & Palash, who have been taking over dancefloors worldwide with their infectious house sets. For her installment, DJ Rap steps away from her traditional style and brings a very hip, smooth listening experience - truly the right chemistry for a great night.
This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Rap.The first one ever to span two genres of music, drum and bass to breaks.
This 2003 double mix CD features wicked cuts on disc one by Uberzone, Bushwacka, Dylan Rhymes and more. Disc 2 features the latest in drum & bass including tracks by Priza f / Demolition Man, Danny C and DJ Rap. Slipcase. Surge.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
An excellent compilation of DJ Rap productions, PROPA CLASSICS is taken from her days in Britain's hardcore/jungle underground of the early to mid-'90s and includes multiple classics of the field. It leads off with Engineers Without Fears' "Spiritual Aura," one of jungle's seminal classics, and proceeds through track after track of tough, tight drum'n'bass. "Hardstep" from 1996 was a pioneering track in the move to tech-step, and her remix of Topcat's "Ruffest Gun Ark" melds deep sub-bass with the ragga master's chatting. A must have for your collection.
World-renowned duo DJ Rap and Kenny Ken use their intuitive mixing skills and more than 10 years of experience to continuously mix thirteen tracks from their most talented cohorts in the drum & bass community. The original 9/99 release in the UK on DJ Rap's label, Propa Talent, and Kenny Ken's label, Mix And Blen, achieved huge success. Includes tracks from legends of the drum & bass world, such as: Ray Keith, DJ Hype, DJ SS, Mickey Finn, A-Sides, G Squad, Randall, Hybridz and more...
LEARNING CURVE was released on Sony in the UK and on Columbia Records in the USA to worldwide critical acclaim. Rolling Stone Magazine gave LEARNING CURVE three and a half stars claiming, "this is the record Madonna wanted to make." Enough said.
A brilliant selection of 'Intelligent' Jungle tracks from some of the mightiest labels of the time. Every track belongs on this mix, each one has its one flavor and takes your mood up and up and shakes it around. From the warm and fuzzy 'Eden', to the inward-looking 'All you wanted' by Skanna, through to the euphoric 'Spiritual Aura' (one of the greatest anthems of this time). By the time this drops into 'A better place' you should be on cloud 9!
Before emerging from the drum'n'bass underground for a major-label recording contract in 1997, DJ Rap was long one of the best mixers in the business, as well as one of jungle's best (if understated) producers. INTELLIGENCE was how she got the attention of the majors, the first artiste in dance to ever release her own artiste record on her own imprint, Propa Talent.
