For those of you who know me, know that I have been in the business a long time. I have watched  different styles come and go blow up and implode. There are many reasons why this happens as  life runs in circles and what goes around certainly comes around,it is a pattern and life is full of rhythms,it is a pulse that resonates in us all and every single thing on the planet. I say this because I strongly suspect that what hurts you hurts me in the end. How we all helped and reacted in Haiti is proof of that indeed.

Learning to have respect is something your parents teach you if they do a good job . My mother always told me if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing. You either have class or you don’t and what you say is truly a reflection of who you are and where your mind lays. It shows people if you are insecure, afraid, jealous we think we hide it well but actually we are more transparent than we know. The Ego is our enemy indeed. I have met so many truly successful people they are always so humble  and they have less Ego than the person desperately trying to prove themselves, it really makes you look like  you’re a nobody trying hard to be a somebody. Confidant people who are secure inside know they are somebody with or without status and this animates from every pore,that is why we are attracted to confidant people.

In this industry especially always be as nice as you can be you never know who you’ll need on the way down and if you have a real career there will be valleys and peaks no one always ascends forever. We all fall at some point and how we handle that is what defines us in the end.

I write this because I released a single this month which got 15000 view in the first 3 days on drum and bass arena. Now I am used to people slagging me off though this is mainly a drum and bass attribute  (so odd that does not happen in the larger styles of music eh?) and I laugh it off because I know I am getting the reaction I want. If I wanted to make the same shit as everyone else I would not be me. I always enjoy doing something new and you never get the love for that (many  great painters and composers died poor and only got recognition many years later) so I am used to it, but for the newbee here are some tips  so you don’t WOBBLE  especially if you’re a chick.

Firstly, if people are talking about you that is a good thing, they are doing you a favor and actually promoting you. No press is bad press. Think of Madonna and what she has to put up with, so many people hate her but way more love her and she gets her revenge by living the life she dreamed up and what a life!

If you were crap no one would bother. Think about it. You got under their skin and that is a good thing. Means you are interesting.

Never respond in a negative fashion,do not bring yourself to their level. If it is slander you can send a cease and assist which warns them legally and that usually scares the crap out of them because this is now a crime. and you can press charges if someone is lying about you and your business as this can damage your business.

Example.

people saying they are one of my artistes that I scammed them and I may have never met them, this would be a perfect example of when I would  unleash my lawyer as people may believe that. However someone saying I am a loser is their opinion and would not dignify  a response from me.

I have responded when I see my fans getting attacked  as they stick up for me against the haters and I always try to calm the situation. Haters do not realize that all they do is perpetuate a stereotype and make it true, I love drum and bass but this is the kind of thing that puts so many off, same as hip hop.It is  a shame because the music is wonderful.

luckily, I am made of stronger stuff and kinda secretly enjoy pissing sexist people off ever since I was told I can’t play in the big room with the boys and get the same money that became my thing. ‘Can’t lives on won’t street’ and we will see about that my dear!  Became my mantra. Have  a mantra!

In the end  what does it matter as long as you’re happy with where you’re at and where you’re headed?

Adopt that attitude and you will laugh when you see crap because you recognize where it really comes from in that person

-FEAR THAT THEY ARE A NOBODY.THEY DO THIS BECAUSE THIS MAKES THEM FEEL POWERFUL-DO NOT GIVE THEM THA POWER EVEN FOR A SECOND.

Revenge is being happy having a life creating music is a gift, a blessing remember that so honor it well because many would love to do what you do.If this is your life you have no reason to be rude,nasty but every reason to be sweet and kind to all those around you.
